Always in love with sports and particularly passionate about aerobic and team sports, he had a background in basketball, playing until the age of 22.

Approaching his 40s, he became drawn to running and extreme races. He participated in various competitions, including 4 New York City Marathons between 2006 and 2010. He had multiple encounters with yoga, but it was only in 2013 that he decided to fully incorporate it into his life. Initially, he embraced its physical aspects, gradually delving into its meditative and spiritual aspects as well. He quickly realized the beneficial effects yoga had on his well-being, leading him to deepen his spiritual and physical growth by attending Vinyasa and Hatha classes at the Kriya Yoga Ashram in Milan.

Under the guidance of Giovanni Formisano, he obtained his teaching certification by completing the two-year training program from 2016 to 2018 (RYT 200h). Teaching soon became the best means for him to share and transmit what yoga meant to him. Driven by a growing desire to enhance his teaching techniques and improve his own practice, he decided to further his training and obtained his certification as a Hatha Raja teacher in 2019 (RYS 250h Plus) under the guidance of Ambra Vallo. In the same year, he also participated in a 50-hour intensive teacher training with Mark Kan.

He actively attends workshops with renowned teachers as part of his continuous journey of improvement and growth, including Chuck Miller, Dylan Werner, Mark Robberds, and Mark Das.

Gianluca is currently a registered Yoga Alliance RYT 350h teacher.
